OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

TOKYO POLICE CLUB ANNOUNCE CANADIAN TOUR DATES

(June 21, 2010) Tokyo Police Club return home for a string of dates across Canada including a highly-anticipated appearance with the Flaming Lips in Toronto.

David Monks (vocals, bass), Josh Hook (guitar), Greg Alsop (drums), and Graham Wright (keys/percussion) formed in 2005 and released the debut EP A Lesson In Crime the following year to instant and universal acclaim. A few world tours later, Tokyo Police Club’s first full length album, Elephant Shell was released in April 2008. Elephant Shell’s release was preceded by multiple sold out shows and appearances on The Late Show With David Letterman, The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson and Desperate Housewives. Critical response to the full length was even more enthusiastic and diverse, not only with Canadian media but with major international magazines such as GQ, Elle, Spin, Rolling Stone and Men’s Health all giving thumbs up. Their sophomore album Champ (available on Dine Alone Records in Canada) was released on June 8, 2010 and is enjoying similar acclaim.

Recently, the band announced a contest to embrace the spirit of their latest album The “Champ Championship” calls on fans to challenge the band to “something…anything.” Fans can enter their ideas at TokyoPoliceClub.com and winners will have access to tickets, merchandise, etc. and the chance to hang with the guys while competing in whatever activity they submitted.

Currently on tour in the US with Passion Pit, the band took a day off from touring to shoot a video for the single “Wait Up (Boots of Danger)” with director Mike Juneau in Toronto. Tokyo Police Club will soon head to Europe to perform on festival stages before embarking on their first US headline tour in support of Champ. The band then returns to Canada. These guys know how to make wasted youth blister, and Champ is brimming with radio-ready, “woo hoo” hooks…it’s Monks’ worn-out benevolence that most separates TPC from other buzz-bin bullshit worth no more than a few megabytes. – Pitchfork.com

If you’re still on the lookout for album of the summer, this could be it. – Exclaim! Magazine

…you’ll be hard-pressed to find a hook as catchy as the “ooh-ooh-oohwoo-ooh-hoo” refrain to “Boots of Danger (Wait Up)” this summer. – Toronto Star

——————————————————————————————-

THSD:
It all started for the Holly Springs Disaster in early 2006 and by 2007, when the band released a monumental EP titled “Motion Sickness Love” it was full speed ahead. The band toured across Canada numerous times with each show getting bigger, louder and crazier as they went. Fans started to recognize the band when they would roll into town on an old mini bus customized for the boys with smoke billowing out the windows. That developed into fans recognizing the band rolling into town because of sold out show posters and lineups at every venue. Summer of 2009 saw the band ready to head into the studio to begin recording their follow up record, this didn’t come to be though and after a long hiatus and searching for a singer the band decided to call it a day. THSD are excited to finish off their career the way it began. Epic, loud, in your face mosh pits and bloody noses. This will be the final tour for one of Canada’s biggest bands in their genre. Sure to see the scene die after they leave they are doing this one for the fans. Check out the young but legendary Michael Froh, Tony Davalos, Josh Guillaume, Dan Marranca and Andy Foord one final time this summer with their good friends Architects.

Architects:
Formed in Brighton, England in 2004, Architects have spent their time together focused on the things that really matter for an upcoming band: the music, the songs and the killer riffs. Drawn together by a love of heavy metal, noise and hardcore, Architects have made a considerable name for themselves, drawing attention from various global publications including being referred to as the “Future of British metal” by Kerrang Magazine. The quintet have left audiences internationally astounded and practically frothing at the mouth with their jaw dropping technical proficiency and undeniable songwriting stones. This will be showcased yet again as the band begins the Cool Tour (As I Lay Dying, Underoath, Between the Buried and Me, Acacia Strain, Bless the Fall, Cancer Bats) in July across the US. Architects are currently in the studio recording the follow up to their 2009 release “Hollow Crown.” This marks the fourth studio album for the band. See them back in Canada (FINALLY!!) this summer when they come across the country co-headlining with The Holly Springs Disaster beginning August 3.

Structures:
STRUCTURES is a five piece progressive/hardcore band hailing from Toronto, Ontario. Having formed in early 2009, the band released a five song EP titled ‘ALL OF THE ABOVE’. STRUCTURES is a group of five talented musicians who strive to create ground breaking, earth shattering technical, melodic hardcore-metal. Starting to turn a lot of heads in the Canadian scene and quickly spreading to the US; STRUCTURES will surely be one of the next breakout metal bands of the year.
The music STRUCTURES delivers demonstrates their diversity as a band as they shatter the listener’s psyche with pure aggression, but don’t be fooled, as they may also appear to slow time through their surprisingly strong melodies. STRUCTURES maintains a strong work ethic combined with a positive outlook on the music industry, including a strong focus on maintaining a highly energetic live performance, leaving a memorable impression and personal touch on every audience member. The bar is set high, STRUCTURES will conquer all!
