Celebrate two days of the very best of 70s, 80s and 90s rock at Grand Portage Lodge & Casino’s 2nd annual Retro Rock Revue Festival, Friday June 29th and Saturday June 30th

On Friday June 29th, rock out under the big tent on Lake Superior’s shore with Thunder Bay’s The Hoolies, playing classic rock from 5pm till 8:30pm, and followed at 9pm by Kiss Tribute Phenomenon, Kiss Army! With identical makeup, outrageous outfits, classic instruments and top-notch musicianship, Kiss Army rules!

And on Saturday June 30th, get down to the smooth sounds of Boogie Wonderland, Minnesota’s number one 70′s Disco Dance band, at 2pm. Then, turn up the rock with Led Zeppelin tribute, the Zep Show, from 6pm. And at 9pm, headliners Smash Mouth take to the stage with their very own brand of 60s-influenced garage band pop

Since being formed in 1994, Smash Mouth has sold more than 10 million albums worldwide. Along with their number one hits – Walkin’ on the Sun and All Star – they have consistently impacted radio with other recognizable hits like Then the Morning Comes, Can’t Get Enough Of You Baby, and a cover of The Monkees classic I’m a Believer, which was prominently featured on the Shrek soundtrack. A quick listen to their music and you realize the multi-platinum Smash Mouth have created a sound that is all their own. Spring is here, and what better time to have west
coast indie favs, Brasstronaut, on the road. Beginning May 29th in Victoria, Brasstronaut
will be embarking on a 17 date Canadian tour in support of their new album, Mean Sun,
out next month on Unfamiliar Records. Their second full-length was recorded with Juno
Award winning producer Colin Stewart (Black Mountain, Dan Mangan, Cave Singers)
etc.), and will have an early fall release overseas.

Accompanying Brasstronaut on this cross Canada tour is Icelandic band Útidúr
(pronounced: ooh – detour). Útidúr, a ten piece group from Iceland, plays joyous and
ambitious chamber-pop with a dramatic streak. Their recently debuted album This Mess
We’ve Made was recorded at the Sigur Rós recording studio ‘Sundlaugin’ in the summer
of 2010.
